Because you are calling on the name of the chief Egyptian god. Surprised no one is listening? Let alone answering.

Amen
(Amon, Amun, Ammon, Amoun)

Who is Amen, The Egyptian God?
Amen's name means "The Hidden One." Amen was the patron deity of the city of Thebes from earliest times, and was viewed (along with his consort Amenet) as a primordial creation-deity by the priests of Hermopolis. His sacred animals were the goose and the ram.

Up to the Middle Kingdom Amen was merely a local god in Thebes; but when the Thebans had established their sovereignty in Egypt, Amen became a prominent deity, and by Dynasty XVIII was termed the King of the Gods. His famous temple, Karnak, is the largest religious structure ever built by man. According to Budge, Amen by Dynasty XIX-XX was thought of as "an invisible creative power which was the source of all life in heaven, and on the earth, and in the great deep, and in the Underworld, and which made itself manifest under the form of Ra." Additionally, Amen appears to have been the protector of any pious devotee in need.
Amen was self-created, according to later traditions; according to the older Theban traditions, Amen was created by Thoth as one of the eight primordial deities of creation (Amen, Amenet, Heq, Heqet, Nun, Naunet, Kau, Kauket).

During the New Kingdom, Amen's consort was Mut, "Mother," who seems to have been the Egyptian equivalent of the "Great Mother" archetype. The two thus formed a pair reminiscent of the God and Goddess of other traditions such as Wicca. Their child was the moon god Khons.

Hey PT: Well, I always thought the word meant “truly” of “so be it”, but I guess not. :mshrug:

Seems all those Bible Believing folks out there are in a whole lot of trouble! Amen is used 78 times in the approved “Word of God”. The word is used by Moses, the major and minor prophets, David, Jesus and Paul. Amen is also the very last word in the Bible. :mshock:

I suppose this means that whoever wrote the strange book of Revelation was praying to the Big Boss Egyptian god , aye? :mshock: I admit this idea could help explain lots of things in the Bible! Amen?

the way religion uses the word to end prayer is just so much traditional religious hoopala like a soothsayers magic pass word when communicating with the spirits.

I think prayer often isn't answered because it is a pleading to God, which is a message to the subconscious mind of "lack". When we subconciously hear "lack", we create what we believe, "lack". We often look at God as "some being "out there" rather than within, and fail to see our creative ability through faith.

Faith is the means to manifestation. To have something manifest in the external, we must believe with conviction that it is already done. "It is finished".

Heb 11:1 Now faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see.

Mat 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mat 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

If you want to be challenged and inspired regarding prayer; watch this 7 part series.

Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

This verse, is an example of how we are to pray.

blessings

Absolutely, FW! Why would the Creator of the Universe be so, so petty?! :mshrug:
