Many times over the years I have heard or read the viewpoints of various preachers preach saying "repent of dead works" only to turn around and preach saying "faith without works is dead" I might also add to this a question being that faith without works is dead then so would works without faith be dead but how can that be when the gospel plainly tells us that every man and women are given a measure of faith?
Often I have pondered just what do they mean dead works? And sought an answer, what I received, over a time, was this: that every man has been given a measure of faith or he or she would not work at all, just about any work one does is in hopes of a fruitful outcome not yet seen so we work to bring it down to earth from that place of hope, with that how can any mans work being of hopeful purpose be dead? Also faith, hope and love, beings love is the highest, who of any man or woman can work without it? Casting stones as much of religion does seems to be absent of the love we are to have for others, so then casting stones would be dead works even though it can stir up confusion contention, conflict and wars in the world because they are cast by those who say we must go under the law according to some mans or a few self chosen mens interpertation of that law? Are they in fear that grace isn't sufficient?
Just because we are not working in conformity to some exclusive club church system of this world religiously indoctrinated with how to do every last little thing, church programs, tithing and ETC right down to the very letter and politicly correct minute of a day does not mean we are lawless, without works, without faith (trust) or left orphaned without grace. ALL mankind, especialy those who have come to trust and rest in the spirit, that Christ is the auther and finisher of that very faith that is not a faith of our own and always has been the begining and finish of that very faith we are given in measure even before we were in this world, before we aware, even before the foundation of the world was laid.
So if you are not caught up in the clutches of religion they preach that your works are dead, I don't believe that because it is a LIE!
Personaly from my POV it appears that religion is a dead work all about the works of flesh that tries to convince mankind that they can and must only do the work the religious say we should do and anything else is dead works? what meaningless empty religious hoopala!
Religion is filled with myths, fables, fear and the works of self in futility, religion is bondage, the truth sets us free.
Any thoughts or responces out there on this topic?
Peace,
Fire Walker

Can't believe I missed this thread previously.
I agree with all that you said here. Most of the works religion espouse relates to their program yet we only need look at what Jesus said to his parents when they thought he was missing.
I must be about my Father's business...
Sadly, most of it has digressed into the personal trinity of me, myself and I.
Western society has made us very much self centred and I am also guilty of that.

Burnie,
Appreciate the responce. In my pov all have to some extent been caught up in this false self center you have pointed out weather they ever went to church and got "indoctrinated" or not, it appears however that the religious corporate church goers are blinded to this by the very religious doctrines preached in their religious institutions and sadly most end up adhering to a rigid religious life of works and end up serving in the letter adhering to those religious doctrines of corporate religious institutions , also many believe nothing spiritual comes to them until after the grave and that the only spiritual guidance they have comes through their church leaders in this life.
For folks like myself who were never members of any corporate religious institution makes no differance because secular institutions are teaching and passing down much of what is religious in nature anyway, so weather churched or unchurched we have much "unlearning" to pass through as we shed the excess bagage we have aquired by just being in this world.
The spirit that quickens us is indeed amazingly awesome
and it seems that the unchurched folks that are found of faith many times often appear to grow and respond to the spirit more spontanously than those who have been wraped up in religious doctrines and church programs for many years, I can't put all this into words it is just a differance I have witnessed between the traditional corporate brick and mortor churched folks and those who trust God who are not affiliated with any of these traditional religious institutions.
Peace,
Fire Walker
