1Jn 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jn 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

therefore God is:

1Co 13:4 Love (God) has patience,(God) is kind; love (God) is not envious; love (God) is not vain, (God)is not puffed up;
1Co 13:5 (God) does not behave indecently,(God) does not pursue its own things, (God)is not easily provoked,(God) thinks no evil;
1Co 13:6 (God) does not rejoice in unrighteousness, (God)but rejoices in the truth.
1Co 13:7 (God)Love quietly covers all things, (God)believes all things, (God)hopes all things,(God) endures all things.
1Co 13:8 (God)Love never fails.

Love has just defined who God is. Therefore, if anyone, be it an angel, be it a man, be it a book, be it a thought, be it your own mind or flesh, if anything, tries to tell you God is other than the above it is inpart and not whole, perfect complete and lacking nothing. Lets look at the next verses.

But if there are prophecies, they will be caused to cease; if tongues, they shall cease; if knowledge, it will be caused to cease.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;
1Co 13:10 but when the perfect thing comes, then that which is in part will be caused to cease.

And what is that perfect thing that comes? It is God and who He is that comes to you and reveals Himself to you and what happens in the presence of such perfect love that comes and manifests Himself to you and in you is this:

1Jn 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1Jn 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1Jn 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1Jn 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
1Jn 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Here we see how God chose to reveal Himself whom is Love to the world. By sending His son. For Jesus said this:

Joh 14:8 And Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.
Joh 14:9 Jesus said to him, Am I so long a time with you, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one seeing Me has seen the Father! And how do you say, Show us the Father?
Joh 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The Words which I speak to you I do not speak from Myself, but the Father who abides in Me, He does the works.
Joh 14:11 Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me; but if not, believe Me because of the works themselves.
Joh 14:12 Indeed, I tell you truly, the one believing into Me, the works which I do, that one shall do also, and greater than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Joh 14:13 And whatever you may ask in My Name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it.
Joh 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Joh 14:16 And I will petition the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may remain with you to the age,
Joh 14:17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He abides with you and shall be in you.

When Love whom God is, whom Jesus manifests shows up something happens:

1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

There is a gospel being preached that involves torment and fear and that gospel is in part. It is lacking. When put next to Love whom God is, it is seen for what it is. It stops short. And when God is revealed within the person as the Perfect Love that He is fear and torment are cast out!

and the Savior of the World is indeed lifted up and has drawn all men to Himself!

God bless.

I love the way you put that together using mostly scripture! When done like that it so clearly shows the difference between the gospels. Thank you!

YW meefsgirl. I think when God reveals His heart to us everything else pales.

Nothing could convince us again that He is anything but Love!

Amen, GodisLove. And because He is Love, He can't not love. The word "love" in all dictionaries should be defined by one word - "God."

Hello GIL, thanks for your thoughts. I encourage you to continue sharing!

You said,

There is a gospel being preached that involves torment and fear and that gospel is in part. It is lacking. When put next to Love whom God is, it is seen for what it is. It stops short. And when God is revealed within the person as the Perfect Love that He is fear and torment are cast out!

In the Word Studies section of this forum, I wrote an article called, AIONIOS BLABBERSLUM speaking concerning the negative aionios's in Scripture. The reason I bring this up, is although what you say is correct, I have found a different reason it is. In 1 John 4, there is a mistranslation. The word "Torment" is not actually there and therefore it taints the word 'fear' to believe it is the 'fear of torment'. It is too bad really, because this propositional thinking, twists also the understanding of who God actually is. In reality, this may interest you, the word "Torment" is not torment at all but "KOLASIS". This 'KOLASIS' literally means 'Corrective Punishment', in English. Even then, the word 'Punishment' brings up horrific images of whippings, jail time, and other vain imaginations which are a form of punishment but not punishment itself. It is just human tendency to see the worst case scenario, and that is because we live mainly by the flesh which fears everything! So just understanding 'KOLASIS' means simply 'a process of correction'.

Eternal Punishment (Matthew 25:46) aionios kolasis

CONTEXT: MATTHEW 25:46
"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' ‘Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

KOLASIS = CORRECTION
STRONGS DEFINITION
correction, punishment, penalty

Translators of Scripture into English mistranslate it sometimes as “Damnation” and "Torment", the word 'KOLASIS' simply means corrective punishment, also called correction.

What is interesting is that God only corrects those whom He loves, and the end result is righteousness.

There are two places in Scripture, which mentions KOLASIS. So in order to find out what that means, let us look at the other KOLASIS reference

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with 'KOLASIS'. The one who fears is not yet made perfect in love. [in other words: He is still in the process of KOLASIS, that is, correction unto perfection in love"]

So, Love does not cast out CORRECTION, CORRECTION comes about because of Love. While people are in the process of CORRECTION, they naturally fear that which they do not know since they are not yet perfected in love. When one is perfected in Love, they no longer fear since they are made perfect in love.

Now armed with the proper knowledge of the Truth, we can read Scripture in a new light:

2 Corinthians 13:9 We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is for your perfection.
Hebrews 11:40 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
