I can only hope that this is an Internet Hoax, but I’m afraid it is not.

This is one of many reasons why I cringe when someone refers to me as a “Christian”. My spirit literally aches within me when I see and hear of such things. If there ever was a just reason for divine intervention and retribution, this is surely one of them. Where is God’s Spirit in all of this?

I think Jesus-Followers need an international conference to update our doctrines and throw off the Myth and Superstition in the Bible from which atrocities such as this arise.

Yes, I see these organized corporate church monsters haven't changed one bit since the days of the crusades and inquisitions, they are just as replusivly despicable
as Reverend Jim Jones and others of his like mind who wish to rule over and abuse anyone caught up in their clutches.

All of this terrible wickedness done by man in the name of church religion in our Lords name all to line their pckets with blood money truely only a soul still in darkness could ever teach these things to people about their children, these preacher/teachers are the problem that begets more problems of hopelessnes and turns many away from seeking the truth in good news gospel of Christ because they associate the words church and christian with all of these evils done in the name of the Church! hell even many people who openly claim to be witches don't do this wickedly to others.. very sad when the secular shows others with more compassion, care and undrstanding than many if not most religiously traditional organized corporate churches do.

What ever bible book and verse number, that verse says something to this effect: "has become a cage for every filthy bird and unclean spirit" would appropiately fit churches like that are mentioned in the article you linked us to.

The man who is trying to help these children is what these churches ought to be doing instead of teaching with fear and hate for profit at the cost of the children.

There are far too many myths and crap that are no longer relevant in our society, Jesus teachings however remain relevant.

IMO religion is the single biggest evil to beset humanity the last 300 years. Hopefully as things move forward, these fringe nuts will become obsolete. The irony of this article is that these folk have imported the USA version of christianity, there is a huge conflict between xian and muslims in Nigeria.

We have had some of that crap here too but the government quickly stepped in and jailed the offenders.

I share your frustrations with this and I wish I could do something. About the only thing that I have come up with is to adopt a policy of not giving to any relief organization that proselytizes. Usually, if the organization is not actively trying to make converts (other than ministering to their needs as Jesus taught), they also don’t usually worry about hell, demons, witches or the boogie-man, so there is almost no chance of an “Inquisition” or the denying of aid to “undeserving” groups.

All I can say is that:: Is it any wonder people who have been in these churches are moved to come out of these churches in ever larger numbers today than at any other point in history? Isn't it also true that because of these dark religious practices and other such activity that people who have never been a member of any traditionly organized church avoid these churches and flee having any part in these things? Is it any wonder there are so many folks today who say church religion sucks?

Jesus himself came up against this same self righteous
religious spirits when he was here in the flesh and called them hypocrites of the worst kind to their face.
Scripture tells us that after these things he walked in Galilee, he would not walk in Jewry because the Jews sought to kill him.

Nothing has ever changed about religion.

The irony of these churches came out today in that the Focus on the family group that put up $500k fro the Prop 8 in california are laying off 202 staff members and now only at 850 or so compared to an all time high of 15000.

Instead of judging these folk, why not reach out in love? They all see it as an attack on their cilil liberties. In SA gay marriage is allowed and the sky did not fall and they remain now a silent minority.

As time goes by and folk come to see the hypocrisy, more folk will leave. I think many a disillusioned by this all and although the mormons were outed by the evangelicals, they and the RCC are all big buddies now. Unbelievers see this on neutral boards and point this out - strange these folk do not see this themselves.

December 7 is now forecast as some world changing event i a nuclear explosion in New York and the UK based on bible code so we shall see.

I guess after 21 12 2012 if we are still here then possibly, they will have given up on the rapture crap.

Let's form a church based on it..we can have catechisms, and elders, and deacons, and confessions, and an offering plate and Sunday school, and collection plates, and sermons and even hire lobbyists to browbeat politicians into voting the way we want...........oh wait....
